I became fascinated with documenting plants while working in a university herbarium. Plants make regular appearances in my sketchbooks, and often find their way into finished pieces of artwork. This series of botanical illustrations is drawn from life, based on native North American flowers growing in my garden in Upstate New York. I bring my whimsical, brighter-than-life style and command of digital tools to a traditional composition and sketching method.
